By Eric Onderwater, Nov 25/09: On Wednesday, November 25, the Simon Fraser University Pro-life campus club hosted the event “Echoes of the Holocaust,” put on by Stephanie Gray of the Canadian Centre of Bio-Ethical Reform (CCBR).  The event was very informative, and Stephanie Gray persuasively argued that abortion is a modern day atrocity, comparable to various other atrocities committed in human history.

Turnout was less than expected, but all present listened carefully and appreciated what Stephanie had to say. The organizers of the event fully expected tough opposition and possibly protests from various groups on campus that do not agree with the pro-life position.  When a similar event was held at McGill University in Quebec, protesters interrupted the meeting and had to be taken away by the police.   However, at SFU the event went off without a hitch, and was not interrupted by any opposition

The lack of opposition at SFU can perhaps be seen as apathy among the student population, or maybe the result of a change in political worldview among the students.

In any case, the Pro-Life Club at SFU, headed by Jonathan Van Maren, is alive, active and controversial on campus.  Thanks to the help of Stephanie Gray and other members of the CCBR, the SFU club continues to work hard changing hearts and minds at SFU.
