Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing to address my concerns over proposed funding cuts to programs and/or agencies which provide help and services to mentally and physically challenged people. I belong to a church that has several mentally challenged individuals. They are served by Rehoboth Christian Ministries and live in a group home that is already experiencing staffing shortages.
My question to all of this is why such cuts are even being considered. Why is it that services such as abortions and sex change operations are funded by government with no cuts being made there? These are procedures which completely destroy human life and yet are funded or at least subsidized; but services that enhance human life, such as health care and caring for special needs people, get cut. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
Let it be very clear that your actions on this issue will influence my decision whether or not to vote for you at the next election. Please consider making cuts elsewhere (i.e. abortions, sex change operations, your or your health super board’s own pockets) if you need to try and meet your budget this year. Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.
Thank you,
