Sasktachewan Star Phoenix, Feb 22, 2010: While Canada has a long-standing reputation for promoting the interests of women, that stands in stark contrast to the positions taken many of the MPs on Mr. Harper’s benches. For example, Saskatoon-Humboldt MP Brad Trost recently launched a petition to bloc funding for the International Planned Parenthood Federation because of its supposed lobbying to “impose permissive abortion laws on developing nations.” Saskatoon-Wanuskewin MP Maurice Vellacott has argued that abortions are part of a “male agenda to have women more sexually available.” [Read the whole editorial here, and send in a letter to the editor [email protected]]
