Social justice dispute heads for full hearing


Vancouver Sun, March 13 2010: A discrimination complaint against the Abbotsford school district over its handling of a new social justice course, which included information about sexual orientation and gender identity, is headed for a full inquiry by the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal. In a decision released this week, the tribunal rejected a bid by the district to have the complaint quashed after it agreed in 2009 to allow students to take Social Justice 12, despite a community controversy over the subject matter.
