Update: ARPA’s Intervention Request Denied by Supreme Court

A A

June 13, 2011

ARPA Canada learned late Friday that our request to intervene in the important case Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission v. William Whatcott has been denied by the Supreme Court of Canada. As is normally the case, no reasons were provided by the Court. Given the importance of the case, and the fact that ARPA presented a very strong application with the help of experienced lawyers, we are disappointed by the decision.  At the same time we realize that God’s hand is in this, and we are grateful for the role we could have and the experience this brought us. We extend our heart-felt gratitude to many of you who kept this matter in your prayers.

We will be watching this case closely and will keep you updated. Thankfully there are a few groups who have been granted intervenor status who will make a good defence for freedom of religion and expression.
