U.S. political Right is right
Carman Valley Leader: In “The story means little to certain political commentators” (The Valley Leader, Jan. 20) Glen Hallick mentions Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik’s opinion that the superheated vitriol between Democrats and Republicans could have caused the Tucson Shootings.
Does Dupnik think Sarah Palin caused the earthquake in Chile too?
A sheriff who messes with politics when investigating a crime scene is outside his mandate. Too many cops mess with politics or play politics, like the OPP’s refusal to enforce the law in Caledonia, Ont. because the bad guys are natives.
Hallick states that MSNBC’s left-wing Keith Olbermann’s calls for toned down rhetoric achieved the opposite because of his finger-pointing the Republicans. Sure, especially after stating that Sarah Palin, whose website scrubbed bull’s-eye targets on 20 Representatives including Gabby Giffords, “does not repudiate her own part in amplifying violence and violent imagery in politics, she must be dismissed from politics…” Poetic justice is when he’s since been fired from the airwaves for being a difficult employee to get along with.
Should the Democratic Leadership Council be dismissed for the same on behalf of John Kerry in 2004, when they put bull’s-eye targets on nine states won by Bush in 2000? The DLC described these states as being situated “behind enemy lines.” Yet he wants Palin dismissed.
The Right defends itself after being falsely accused of causing a shooting that murdered six by the Left, and Hallick blames the Right for having “shamelessness and one-up-man ship”, being “ego-driven” and having a petty hissy fit.
Hallick condemns the conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh for crass pseudo-journalism. Yet it’s MSNBC’s Hardball anchor Chris Matthews who fantasized about Limbaugh’s death: “somebody’s going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and he’s going to explode like a giant blimp.”
Recently, left-wing radio host Mike Malloy on his Jan. 4 show was talking about Limbaugh’s hospital visit after suffering chest pains that he’s waiting to, “find out he’s choked to death on his own throat fat or a great big wad of saliva… Go away, Rush, you make me sick!”
Far-left New York Times columnist Paul Krugman started manufacturing facts before the echoes of the gunfire died down two hours after the tragedy with vile propaganda demonizing conservatives. Krugman burned effigies of Republicans at his party celebrating 2008 Democrat victories; and called for Joe Lieberman to be hung in effigy.
When rightfully indignant Sarah Palin is wrongly accused of causing murder, Hallick unfairly calls her “unpresidential” because she used what’s called an old anti-Semitic term “blood label” to describe the connection of the shooting to her by the Left. So she could have used a better term, big deal.
The Left is guilty of normally using outrageous terms like calling homosexuality an “alternate lifestyle”, killing babies a “woman’s right to choose” or “settled science” – don’t argue.
Shooter Jared Loughner had a grudge against Rep. Giffords dating back in 2007, which predates Sarah Palin, the Tea Party movement, the so-called “Right-wing rhetoric” against Obama. In fact, Loughner’s hatred of Giffords actually occurred during the Left-wing hatred of George W. Bush and Republicans.
