Early next week, 50 men and women representing 16 ARPA chapters and ARPA Canada are converging in Ottawa to bring a Christian perspective directly to our nation’s leaders. These ARPA reps have booked dozens of meetings with Members of Parliament and Senators on Tuesday. In teams of two or three, we are meeting with these leaders to discuss Woodworth’s motion about the definition of a human being, aboriginal affairs, prostitution laws, and a wide range of other issues that are close to our hears and relevant to the leaders we are meeting with.
On Tuesday evening we are hosting an event, also just for MPs and Senators, on the topic of multiculturalism. Dr. Cornelis Van Dam, who recently published a fantastic book about current political issues from a biblical perspective, will be doing the talk and taking the questions. We are giving a transcript of his talk (both English and French) to every MP and Senator in Canada.
On Wednesday the ARPA groups will meet all day for the second-ever national conference. The day is packed with sessions where we strategize and set goals for the next two years. We also have speakers to teach us how to interact with media or make election questionnaires, among other things. Finally, Thursday and Friday is ARPA Canada’s national board meeting. This is our time of planning for the upcoming years.
Prayer Request: The 50 ARPA reps are going to Ottawa as ordinary Canadians – just like you. Please pray that God equips us with all we need to speak both grace and truth to our leaders. Please also pray for a blessing over Dr. Van Dam’s presentation to MPs and Senators, that it might be received with receptive hearts. Finally, we would appreciate your prayers for God’s blessing over the conference and board meeting – that all these plans would be done with a view to seeking His glory first and foremost.
