Pre-Born Human Rights

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:13-14

Since R v Morgentaler in 1988 abortion has been legal in Canada, and since the Canadian government has not created any new legislation protecting the unborn, Canada remains one of the only countries in the world without any abortion laws at all. is an organization started by ARPA Canada to focus efforts on this vacuum. 10 Mar 2011 ‘Safe’ abortion, all nine months

By Maaike Rosendal (a member of Southern Alberta ARPA). First published in Reformed Daily newspaper (Reformatorisch Dagblad) in the Netherlands, March 4 2011 Once again Maaike Rosendal shares an experience from her trip to New York, where she recently attended the Commission on the Status of Women in UN headquarters. Today’s meeting is about ‘safe abortion’. The main speaker is Dr. Gill Greer, director of Planned Parenthood, the world’s biggest abortion provider. She explains that thousands of women die in childbirth, which is why ‘termination of the pregnancy’ should be available during all nine months. I stand up and say that high maternal mortality in developing countries is due to a lack of prenatal care, safe delivery conditions, and societal values that respect women. Abortion will not change that.

14 Oct 2010 Life Chain 2010: Success in Langley and Grimsby

Another LifeChain has come and gone and once again members of Canada's Reformed churches played an important role in the annual testimony to Canada's unborn on our city streets. The article below, from the Langley Advance, recounts the success of the LifeChain in that city, where about 450+ people came out, over half of which came from the local Canadian Reformed churches. The Langley LifeChain was moved from Sunday to Saturday and the numbers increased. But that hasn't been the case everywhere. Other cities have moved their LifeChain to Saturday to accomodate Reformed churches but had a significantly reduced involvement. Others, like the one in Grimsby, Ontario moved the LifeChain time so that it wouldn't conflict with the worship services.

04 Oct 2010 Ho-Hum? Roxanne’s Law is Something to Be Excited About!

By Mark Penninga ( First published in Reformed Perspective Magazine, September 2010: When it comes to politics and abortion, Canadians should be given a gigantic F on our moral report card. Of all countries in the world, we seem to be the only one that can't have a reasonable discussion about abortion or make any laws on the matter. So when MP Rod Bruinooge introduced a bill in the House of Commons this spring that would make it a crime to coerce a woman to have an abortion, one might have expected a good number of people to shout forth a collective and joyful HURAY! The reality is quite the opposite.
