The Association for Reformed Political Action (ARPA) Canada is a non-profit organization devoted to educating, equipping, and encouraging Canada’s Reformed Christians to political action and bringing a biblical perspective to our civil governments. By God’s grace, and through the support of our donors, we are looking to expand our work in western Canada by adding a full-time member to our team dedicated to mobilizing grassroots political action among the Reformed community.

Job Description: Western Grassroots Coordinator

The Western Grassroots Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that ARPA Canada educates, equips, and encourages Reformed Christians for political action in western Canada. This person will work closely with the Director of Grassroots Action and the Grassroots Action Department and consult regularly as they execute their responsibilities. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Grassroots Action.

Location: Although we are open to several locations for this position, including our Fraser Valley, BC office, preference will be given to a candidate who resides in, or is able to relocate to, Alberta.

Requirements for Applicant:

  • Ability to connect with and inspire people of all ages.
  • Skilled in building new relationships and sustaining current relationships in western Canada.
  • Heartfelt agreement with the mission of ARPA Canada.
  • Active membership in a confessional Reformed church (a Reformed church which faithfully upholds Scripture and the Three Forms of Unity or the Westminster Standards).
  • Ability to give a personal statement of faith.
  • Willing to abide by all ARPA Canada staff policies.
  • Long-term development of a Reformed Christian worldview, also as it relates to political/social issues.
  • Six month trial period with a minimum 5 year expected commitment.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to provide your own vehicle for travel (monthly compensation available).
  • Willing to travel between 20-50 nights per year.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined work ethic.
  • Ability to work well with a national team throughout Canada, also by way of videoconferencing.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and assist with events, projects, and campaigns with a purpose of mobilizing Reformed Christians to political action
    • Facilitate and encourage grassroots action in western Canada
    • Lead by example, showing what godly political engagement can look like.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Grassroots Action and the Grassroots Action Team to ensure all projects prioritize grassroots action.
    • Promote ARPA resources and merchandise.
    • Promote ARPA lesson plans.
    • Help establish and maintain relationships with like-minded stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with other ARPA departments where necessary
    • Join and contribute to project teams when appointed to do so by the Leadership Team.
  • Oversee the effective management of ARPA Chapters and ARPA School Clubs in western Canada
    • Help establish, maintain, and support ARPA Chapters and ARPA School Clubs.
    • Attend and/or organize regular meetings with ARPA Chapters and ARPA School Clubs (virtual and face-to-face).
    • Ensure, in collaboration with all departments, that local ARPA groups and leaders receive regular updates, support, direction, and encouragement.
    • In consultation with the Grassroots Action Team, ensure ARPA Canada publications are promoted.
    • Attend and participate in grassroots regional meetings.
    • Help coordinate and participate in youth conferences, regional God and Government conferences, national God and Government conferences, and any other grassroots–related events.
  • Consult with ARPA staff to ensure that ARPA’s mission of educating, equipping, and encouraging Reformed Christians is understood and executed
    • Ensure that grassroots goals are clearly articulated to the relevant staff.
    • Attend and participate in formal and informal regular interaction with the Director of Grassroots Action to help him monitor their job duties and goals.
    • Oversee development and implementation of short and long-term goals.
    • Ensure expenses incurred by direct reports are in line with expense policy.

Assets:

  • Experience in working with and managing people.
  • A large network of relationships in our Reformed circles.
  • Proven experience in mobilizing grassroots to action if previously employed by an organization like ARPA Canada. Experience in volunteering with local ARPA chapters.
  • Political experience with a political party.
