Defining what makes us ‘human beings’

08 Sep 2011 Defining what makes us ‘human beings’

National Post, September 8, 2011: Letter-writer Dr. Christiane Dauphinais quotes Peter Singer from his book, Practical Ethics.

Allow me to quote a third definition from the Bible, where King David, in Psalm 139, the verses 13 to 15 gives his version of when life begins: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the Earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.”
