05 Dec 2007 Giving Birth to Healing – Why All Prospective Parents Should Consider Donating Cord Blood

Giving Birth to Healing – Why All Prospective Parents Should Consider Donating Cord Blood By Mark Penninga Blood – It’s in us to give. Many of us donate blood because it is an easy way to help those in need. But few are aware that every time a baby is born, the umbilical cord and placenta are filled with a most precious type of blood that can also be donated. Generally referred to as cord blood (i.e. from the umbilical cord), this blood is rich in stem cells....

Press Release - Nov 21, 2007 - Ottawa – Ken Epp, Member of Parliament for Edmonton-Sherwood Park, introduced in the House of Commons today a Private Members Bill that would allow criminal charges to be laid in the death or injury of an unborn child when the child’s mother is the victim of a crime. “This is all about protecting the choice of a woman to give birth to her child,” said Mr. Epp. “It is about condemning the actions of those who would take it upon themselves to criminally assault a pregnant woman and the child she wants and loves, destroying that child against her will.”

09 Nov 2007 Voting for none of the above

Don’t like any of the candidates? You may still have an option! by Jon Dykstra (first appeared in the March 2002 issue of Reformed Perspective) Russ Vroege was all ready to vote, but had no one to vote for. He was pro-life; all the candidates were pro-abortion. Yes, there were other issues in the election, and many of them were important issues, but Russ didn’t want to vote for a candidate who supported the murder of the unborn, no matter how nice his other position might be. To top it all off, Russ was going to be away on business the day of the election. He didn’t even know where he could vote ahead of time. You’d probably understand if Russ felt a bit apathetic and didn’t vote at all.

by Jon Dykstra (from the April 2004 RP) This story is true, it involves a lot of geography and it most definitely involves God. If you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the sheer evil going on around you, if you want to do “something” about it but don’t know what to do, just remember God can use even our tiny efforts for His great purpose. Just the facts On March 3, a medical student at the University of Manitoba Medical School was denied his degree because he refused to participate in abortion related activities. On March 18, the Toronto-based website LifeSiteNews.com reported that the student, who wishes to remain anonymous, “received a failing grade in an Obstetrics and Gynecology portion of his program for refusing to perform or refer for any abortive procedure. Three separate appeals to the Medical School all failed to correct the matter.”

08 Nov 2007 Moving Beyond a “Doom and Gloom” Message

by Mark Penninga (printed in Reformed Perspective, Nov 2007) In the past few years Christians have had good reason to be disappointed with our governments and the courts - Canada has condoned everything from swinger’s clubs, to homosexual marriage, to having three legal parents for one child. Our disappointments are causing many Christians to become cynical about the whole realm of politics and that is unfortunate. We aren’t allowed to just give up; the Bible tells us to be a salt and a light in this world, regardless of how dark it is.

26 Oct 2007 It’s Time for a Royal Commission on the Family

By Mark Penninga “Married people outnumbered for the first time” rang out a recent CBC news headline. The story came in response to Statistics Canada releasing its survey of the Canadian family.
