31 Mar 2008 A WELCOMED ALLY

Christian political organizations already exist, so where does ARPA Canada fit in? by Mark Penninga, Director, ARPA Canada Politics impacts everything we do, from what kinds of light bulbs we can buy to what we read on our cereal boxes. Given the impact politics has on our daily lives, it’s worth asking how much Christians are doing to positively influence society through politics. Which Christian organizations are already involved in Canadian politics? How successful are they? And is there room for one more?

31 Mar 2008 ARPA Canada Endorsements

“ARPA Canada’s determination to engage and motivate Christians to be active in a positive way in the political arena is most welcome. More Christian involvement, especially by the Reformed community, in the secular public square is a must. Only the light of God’s Word can show the way out of the present darkness and provide the hope and encouragement needed to find solutions that work. ARPA’s desire to work with grassroots local groups is most commendable. I sincerely hope that many get inspired by this new initiative to establish...

27 Mar 2008 “Resist, counter and protest”

VANCOUVER, March 22, 2008 [www.ccrl.ca] - The Catholic Civil Rights League will collaborate with other groups “to develop strategies that concerned parents can employ to passively and actively resist, counter and protest” the kind of instruction recommended by a new teachers’ manual, Making Space, Giving Voice. The statement was included in a letter to School Districts and District Parent Advisory Councils notifying them of the release of the League’s critique of Making Space, Giving Voice. The Ministry of Education manual explains how K-12 students will be introduced to “the full range of gender identity and sexual orientation.” The manual was designed to fulfil the Corren Agreement, a private contract between the Ministry and two homosexual activists.

26 Mar 2008 Easter Commentary – Happy Good Friday!

By Tim Bloedow [www.christiangovernment.ca] March 21, 2008 Happy Good Friday! I mean, Happy Easter! Why do Christians wish each other Happy Easter, and not Happy Good Friday? Because we know that Jesus is no longer on the cross. He defeated sin, death and hell. He overcame… He conquered. The question today is, Do we really believe this? Do we really believe that Jesus conquered? Do we really believe that Christ is King? Do we really believe that we live today as vice-regents in this world under King Jesus? Or do we live our lives as though we were sitting at the foot of the cross, looking up at Christ, wondering when He's going to get off the cross? Maybe we've been sitting there so long, we're now wondering IF He's going to get off the cross!?

14 Mar 2008 A Plea from Sam Golubchuk’s Family

My name is Miriam Geller, and I never thought that I would be writing such aletter.I am the daughter of SAM GOLUBCHUK, an elderly disabled World War IIveteran living in Winnipeg, Manitoba (in Canada).Last fall SAM, who has been living in a long-term care facility, came downwith pneumonia and had to be moved to a hospital. Thank God, the pneumoniawas cured. Unfortunately, due to his weakened condition, SAM has been unableto return to his home. He is currently receiving basic care at the hospitalwhich includes being given food and water and assistance in breathingthrough the use of a ventilator.SAM isn't on any medication and he is in no pain. He's just old and weak.In November the hospital, without our permission, attempted to withdraw thisbasic care, letting our father die. We obtained an emergency Court Order tostop them from doing so, which they tried - and failed - to have reversed. Now the government is forcing us to return to Court again as it fights, attaxpayers' expense, to have the Order overturned.

19 Feb 2008 Two Political Movies Worth Watching

Its not often that decent movies come out, let alone ones that teach some lessons about engaging in politics Christianly, but they still exist. Recently released on DVD, check out Amazing Grace, the story of William Wilberforce (British Member of Parliament) and the abolition of the slave trade. And for something that came out many years ago, but which still is a great watch, check out Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. This entire movie is available below (high speed connection required) or it can be seen larger on google video....
