As Canadians, we are privileged to live in very safe and secure communities. But that does not mean that we are invincible. Are you and your family prepared if a major disaster were to happen? Do you have a plan of action if a disaster occurred when you were in a different place then your family? Do you have enough bottled water, food, and emergency supplies to provide for your family for at least 3 days?
We should not be looking only to our governments to provide relief in the midst of a disaster – we have to be prepared ourselves. What can you do now? Go to this website from Public Safety Canada for tips and suggestions. Also, your provincial government probably has a website which provides more detailed suggestions for your area. Be wise – it is part of caring for our families and communities.
