13 Mar 2013 Pictures: Alberta Legislature Visit a Huge Success!

On Tuesday, 18 representatives of Alberta ARPA chapters and ARPA Canada visited the Alberta Legislature in Edmonton and met with a dozen MLAs and cabinet ministers to discuss a range of issues that are close to our hearts. We can report with thankfulness that these meetings resulted in blessings beyond what we could have hoped for. Meetings included Justice Minister and Attorney General Jonathan Denis, Associate Minister of Finance Kyle Fawcett, Minister of Environment Diana McQueen, and Associate Minister of Accountability Don Scott. The top issues of discussion were reforming Alberta's Human Rights Code, parental authority in education, abortion funding, and children working on farms. One MLA was so impressed with a meeting with reps from Southern Alberta ARPA that he took the report that was prepared for him, photocopied it for the other MLAs, and introduced it in the Legislature that afternoon, urging his colleagues to read it.

It's the End of the World as We Know It: Opportunities for the Church In an Increasingly Hostile Society Our nation is rejecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, and vilifying those who hold to it, not realizing that many of their freedoms and the stability of our country are due, in large part, to this very heritage. 13 Aug 2012 ARPA’s Host MP Stephen Woodworth – Video & Pictures

"In a democracy every one of us is responsible for every law. In a democracy every one of us is responsible for an unjust law. And as Christians we have the moral obligation to do all we can to change those unjust laws." (Mr. Woodworth, speaking to the audience in Lethbridge Alberta). MP Stephen Woodworth, the author of Motion 312 which is coming to a vote in the House of Commons, was hosted by ARPA groups in Lethbridge, Edmonton, and Barrhead last week, making the case for his motion that asks for a Parliamentary committee to study the Criminal Code's definition of human life. Lethbridge and Edmonton saw large crowds of about 200 people each, drawing from their respective communities as well. MPs Jim Hillyer, Rob Merrifield, Brian Storseth and long-term conservative publisher and leader Link Byfield were some of the leaders who made a point of coming to these events.

March for Life 2012 was a wonderful success! Thousands of people flocked to the Hill despite the chilly winds and threat of rain. LifeSiteNews reported 19,500 people in attendance, and many Members of Parliament, religious leaders and others were able to address the crowd and encourage them to continued action. ARPA was very happy to co-sponsor a Reformed prayer service with Jubilee Church before the March began. Over 250 people filled the sanctuary of the rented facilities downtown Ottawa – some having left their homes at 1:00 that morning, in order to attend! February 22, 2012: SMITHERS -– One hundred white crosses have been erected on fence posts along Highway 16 east of Smithers as a memorial to over 100,000 children who are aborted in Canada every year. The crosses stretch well over a kilometre down the highway and include small signs that remind passerbys that each cross represents 1,000 abortions in Canada every year. One of these signs points to a website www.theTruthIs.ca that was made to give more information about help and resources for pregnant and post-abortive women as well as the general public.
