Fixing the definition of ‘conversion therapy’

A criminal law conversion therapy ban – Bill C-8 – has been introduced in Parliament. The ban, if passed, will criminalize conversion therapy, its provision, advertisement, and to materially benefit from it. If the definition were precise and actually target harmful conversion therapy, this would be an acceptable bill. However, the definition as drafted is incredibly vague and broad. We discuss this bill, its problems and how to fix them, with Member of Parliament Garnett Genuis.
